A Piece of Art

This article will change your thinking about what you drive and why life truly is too short to drive boring, stock cars. These are only seven of some of the best cars you can buy (not in any order).

Toyota Supra

This seems like an obvious one, but trust me you can get big power out of the supra's engine with stock internals.

The 2JZ-GTE engine is known to have a lot of unexploited power amount lying in its six cylinders waiting to be unleashed. Most tuners can get it to around 600 hp with stock internals by converting it to a single turbo setup, changing the ECU, and adding some bigger injectors along with a less resistive exhaust.

However, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of replacing the two stock turbos with a bigger aftermarket one, you can stick to the Basic Performance Upgrade or BPU. This includes updates to the intake, exhaust, downpipes and boost controller, for starters. You should know that the BPUs should be made all at once to get the most out of the setup.

Why drive one?

If you are sitting wondering "why do I want to drive one of these," then you have the wrong mindset, my friend. First of all, they are really quick and a fun car to drive. You can put a lot of BHP into it very easily and quickly.

I'm not going to tell everything about it though, you gotta find that out for yourself.

Nissan Silvia

If you are going to tune one of these the engine it has or will have is probably going to be a sr20det. The best bhp you can get out of a sr20det is around 400bhp with stock internals. Although to get this you will need to change the inlet and outlet manifolds, ECU and like all living beasts, it has to breathe.

Why drive one?

Well, this car is fun to drive mainly because it's a good drift car, or a car you can put sideways easy with just a little slip of the clutch. The Silvia is a cheap car to acquire, but that depends on where you live. Apart from this, the car is light, quick, good looking and the amount of parts available is unbelievable.

AE86 Trueno

The AE86 Trueno is a piece of artwork. This car can be used for either one of two things; drifting or racing, or both.

With standard internals, you can get upwards of 200+bhp with some basic performance upgrades. With an engine swap, and the right one at that, you could get way more than that. One of the best parts of this car is that it has pop-up headlights.

Why drive one?

This car has the ability to be a drift car and race car at the same time. This is mainly the only reason to drive it. But seriously though this car is amazing to drive and it, being made by Toyota, means it will run forever.

Mitsubishi Evo

There are 10 of these babies that you could get anywhere, but the price depends on where you live. The Evo is a sports sedan. One of the best sedans you will drive in your life. The reason for this is that they are a 2 Litre turbo-charged petrol with high bhp and you can get up to ten different ones.

The first one was released in 1992 and from that point on they have just got better and better. They are largely known to tuners worldwide because they are easily modified and come deadly quick stock, for a sedan.

The Evo 5 can get up to 350+bhp on stock internals just by changing the inlet and outlet manifold, ECU, Exhaust and Turbo. Adding larger injectors will also help but you may need to change the ignition side of things, it all depends.

Why drive one?

These cars are seriously quick for a stock sedan. If you treat it right they might drift for you, but you have to give it one thing... plenty of throttle.

Subaru Impreza

It's not just the 22b that's the best Subaru its all of them. The Impreza is also a great and deadly quick sedan which you can bring the family to rally events and track days.

The engine in this is slightly different from all other cars, ever ( unless it's a rotary ). If you've picked the right Subaru then you have most likely got a boxer engine. The cylinders in this don't go up and down, they go side to side. This is what gives Subaru's that distinctive rumbling sound when they have been given the boot.

There are several types of Subaru Impreza's which are all equally as cool as the other. First of all there is the classic. Then there is the bug eye, blob eye and the hawk eye. The my08 is the hatchback version which looks awesome with a wide-body kit.

The most power you could get out one of these is around 350+bhp. The same as everything else change how the fuel and air gets in and out of the engine and change the amount going in, but don't put too much or the internals will need replaced.

Why drive one?

The first reason to drive one is because of the pure rumble sound that this makes, it's just unbelievable. Another reason is, because they are quick and for a stock sedan, you could probably go to a track and stand a good chance of setting a new record.

I'm not saying everything about this or I could ruin your experience in one.

RX-7

This high revving beast is an amazing car, especially if you're looking one for your first JDM / tuner car.

The engine isn't exactly the same as a boxer or straight/inline engine. The engine that they will most likely have is a rotary. which are a high revving engine which can rev up to around 9,000rpm. This is insane if you're looking a good pull in a certain gear, while your opponent has changed gear twice you have only changed once.

The most bhp you can get form this engine which will most likely be a 13b is around 400+bhp.

Why drive one?

The pure sound off one of these when they are idling is awesome. A reason to drive one is because they are insanely quick. You can put a lot of power into one of these with only a few simple mods. One final thing, well, you can find the rest out for yourself.

Miata

This car is underestimated in the car world but what people don't know is that this is an amazingly fun car to drive.

Everything about this car is amazing, the handling, throttle response, etc. The best part is you don't even need big power in an mx5 all you really need is an exhaust and a spare set of tyres.

The most power you can get out of their 1.6L or 1.8L is around 200-300+bhp. This would be pretty quick thanks to its lightweight.

Why drive one?

You don't even need to drive one to fall in love with it. But drive one just to get the full experience. These wee things can go around corners pretty easily with just over 100bhp (and by easy I mean sideways). That's all i'm going to say, you can find the rest of it out for yourself.
