Motorcycles are just as complicated to pick as cars, maybe even a little more. Since they're not like cars, there's a lot of features that every beginner should keep an eye out for. Whether the seat isn't comfortable, or the grips are too rough, there are little things that every new motorcyclist should be aware of.

But that's just a part of buying a motorcycle. For a beginner, you can't just pick any motorcycle, it's not like buying a reliable car for you first time drivers. For example, you shouldn't choose a motorcycle that's really meant for a pro if it's your first. Start off small and simple, not something too large and complex. And if you're currently on the hunt for your first bike, but completely lost, don't dwell on it any longer. I've complied a list of the best beginner motorcycles to be your first bike. I guarantee any one of these motorcycles will make you fall in love and will help you to be a better motorcyclist.

2017 Honda Grom

The 2017 Honda Grom is specifically designed to not only look really cool, but be super durable when riding. The motorcycle features a two-tier seat, so you can ride either solo or with a buddy. Its muffler is on the low mount with a more defined tail section, too.

The Grom also features a 125cc engine, which will give you the best ride of your life — especially if you're learning to ride for the first time. It’s light, narrow, and rides fast, but still allows you to have full control. The brakes are very powerful, and you’ll always be in control of the speed.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

If you’re just starting to get into motorcycles, then you’ve probably heard of the Kawasaki Ninja 300. As one of the best beginner motorcycles, the Ninja 300 includes a 296cc parallel-twin engine that gives you the smoothest, strongest, and most controlled power you can handle. With a 150mm rear tire and a taller windshield, you’ll feel comfortable riding the bike for hours.

The Ninja 300 comes in a variety of colors, including matte black — my personal favorite. The brakes are great when it comes to sudden stops. So, don’t worry about losing control with this motorcycle.

KTM 390 Duke

While riding the KTM 390 Duke, you’ll find yourself loving the bike more and more each time you take it for a spin. The bike is light as a feather, but powerful as well. It’s also packed with state-of-the-art technology, promising the best rides ever. This motorcycle is ideal for riding through dirt roads or even the jungle if you’re adventurous.

First in its class, the 390 Duke also gives you the choice to hook your smartphone so you can receive calls and play music. And you can manage the menu on the bike’s display all while still tearing it up.

CSC Cyclone RX-3

The CSC Cyclone RX-3 is easily known to be one of the best beginner motorcycles to consider. This rad looking bike features everything you need for your first bike. From durability to ideal speed, I bet you’ll be using this bike for years.

It's the perfect motorcycle for adventuring, touring off road, or even commuting to work (because why not?). It features an overhead cam, counterbalanced, electric start, water-cooled 250cc engine, Delphi fuel injection, tall windscreen, and much more. Including an 84-mph top speed, your bike can get you from place to place in no time. Riding this bike will make you look like a pro — even though you’re a beginner. Who doesn’t want that?

Kawasaki Ninja 250R

Here's another Kawasaki Ninja, but the 250R. Many of the best beginner motorcycles are Kawasaki bikes, and it’s no surprise. The motorcycle offers the greatest and smoothest rides ever. With a low seat height, riding will always be comfortable. The 250R is compacted with a liquid-cool twin-cylinder engine that makes riding a breeze.

Unlike other bikes, beginners will love the 250R because it doesn’t overwhelm you with speed. With amazing bodywork and great pricing, this motorcycle can be your first bike that will be useful for a long time.

The motorcycle includes a new Low RPM Assist that seamlessly adjusts engine speed during take-off and low-speeds, helping it run smoothly. The SV650 promises great performance, stunning style, and value all in one bike. Sounds like a professional motorcyclist's bike, but it’s actually more for beginners.

Kawasaki Versys 300-X

Like I’ve said before, Kawasaki never lets us down as one of the best beginner motorcycles ever. And their Versys 300-X is game changing and will surely impress you. Take the 300-X on the road and expect nothing but smooth, thrilling rides every time you take it for a run.

It’s very lightweight and super durable, enabling it to handle your toughest drives. Doesn’t matter whether you’re traveling near or far, you’ll always find enjoyment with the Versys 300-X.

Yamaha R3

Drive like a motorcycle racer with the sporty Yamaha R3. You’ll always feel like a professional racer whenever riding the R3, because of how cool looking the bodywork is and overall speed. It features a set of large 321cc twin-cylinder engines that gives nothing but excellent performances, whether taking a road trip or commuting to work.

The R3 is lightweight, designed with great strength that makes this bike very durable and safe to drive as a beginner. The bike also includes clip-on handlebars and a riding position for balance and comfort.

Hyosung GT250R

If you’re looking for a more muscular looking motorcycle, then I suggest you consider the Hyosung GT250R from this list of best beginner motorcycles to get started with. The GT250R is made in South Korea and features a five speed manual transmission, and even a fuel injected v twin two-cylinder engine for sharpness and great speed.

The bike weighs about 414 lbs with a 32.5 inch seat height. So, if you want that real sportbike feel, look no further than the GT250R.

Yamaha SR400

Last on the list of best beginner motorcycles, the Yamaha SR400 is more on the classier side of motorcycles. While the bodywork doesn’t entirely look sporty, it’s certainly classic and easy to ride. The fuel injection on this bike gives the motor great response and modern practicality. This bike can be enjoyed by both the experienced and beginner.

The SR400 is designed for cruising on the freeway and open roads, but it also works great in close quarters, like getting around New York City! It’s equipped with an easy-to-use kick starter, and I bet those old-school motorcyclists will surely admire your ride.
